I live here in Nashville and did not know that Steve Curnutte lived here. I have been reading posts on his blog about the credit crisis for more than a year and think he is one of the most lucid and insightful guys in the business. The way I see it, the task now has two pieces, to unearth what happened, then to find a way to move ahead so it won't happen again. This guy actually talks about both sides of the equation. Really cool that you put this here. I came across it when I googled his name. Thank you.

Oh yeah, Gregg Patterson deserved to be on the team too. How could a guy with a 1.84 era in 1987 not be on that team is beyond me.

Man I knew Andy well but don't remember him with the headband. All I know is that that skinny little guy knew how to work pitchers like a son of gun walking 77 times in 1987 and being very fundamentally sound. I saw him about 4 years ago at Mark Twain's pizza in Metairie, he still has one heck of a personality. I told him about the fact that I saw Burke Broussard often at church, he replied in his typical cocky Jesuit attitude that that SOB beat him out of his position. He looked pretty good and asked me to take him fishing sometime as I was working in Metairie at the time, but never found the time.

That 1986 team was the best team I ever saw at LSU. Damn shame guys like Rob Leary, Mark Guthrie, Jeff Yurtin, Barry Manuel and Jim Bowie did not make the all LSU team voted on by the fans. Shows what fans know, hell Blair Barbier, a guy who had the worst range of any infielder I ever saw at LSU made the team.

Update: Two things...

My 4 1/2 year old is fast becoming a rock fan because of this game. He walks around the house singing "Slow Ride", "Mississippi Queen" and "Rock and Roll All Night" - he loves these songs. It's really cool to see him beginning to love music as much as I do. Plus he's got great rhythm, and we'll keep working on that.

Tommy had his birthday party/sleep over with 6 of his friends last weekend. So, I went and picked up a second guitar for them to "battle". OMG, what fun that was. It's also really cool that you don't have to both be on the same level to battle. So, some of the kids who weren't too good at the game could play against the others. That's a really great idea in the game.

The other side benefit of the second guitar is that I let my 4 1/2 year old "pretend" that he's playing along. It's pretty cool to watch.

Yes - do the opposite of what you think you need to do.

I made the same mistake investing in traffic generation thinking it would solve my sales problems and ended up with the same result as you. It wasn't until we admitted something wasn't right - that we were able to turn the corner. The second thing was to invest in really good analytics software to help you understand what is exactly happening on your website. Guessing isn't good enough in this day any age. You have to know.

Figure out what your success metrics are and then you can begin to micromanage what's going on with your site. You can find a ton of information around the net on success metrics. But, basically they're things like sales per visit, shopping cart efficiency, new subscribers per visit - stuff like that. Then, with a good analytics package you can set up funnels to help you figure out the step-by-step process that your visitors go through to land at the success point. From there you can also analyze your fall out, or the count on the visitors who drop out of the process.
