I play guitar and, on occasion, sing along while I’m playing. It took me a while to learn how to do something like that - especially playing in time.

In being able to do something like this, you have to be able to move both hands independently of one another. You  also have to sing. And, then you have to think about what you’re playing and what you’re singing - at the same time.

Now I have absolutely no idea how drummers sing while they’re playing. You have all 4 appendages moving at different times and then you’re trying to flap your gums while doing all of that! These musicians are truly amazing. Next time you see one doing this, take a little extra time and admire what you’re seeing.

AC/DC Back in BlackI was in Best Buy yesterday and saw that AC/DC’s “Back in Black” had been remastered and reissued. It’s been a long time since I listened to this incredible album - what a treat to go back down that road again.

One thing struck me as I was reading the liner notes. They included this “bonus material” link through something that verified the CD was authentic. So, I think - this is gonna be cool, get some unreleased track or something. This sounded like a great idea to combat iTunes and give the consumer something “extra” for actually buying the CD.

Boy was I wrong. That stuff sucked.

Aren’t wallpapers and interviews way overdone. I mean, in this day and age is that the best someone has come up with. There has to be some stuff in the can somewhere from those sessions. Get a jam, outtakes or something like that and give me a real reason to waste my money on a CD that I’m gonna burn to iTunes anyway.

Nonetheless, this album holds its own with anything from the Rock genre. It has stood the test of time and still make me want to hold up the rock horns and bang my head for old time sake.

Maroon 5I’m an avid music fan and have seen so many bands and artists fail on their second album. I can’t imaging how tough it is to get something together to follow-up a smash album. I mean think about Hootie’s “Cracked Rear View” - they never got it back.

This new Maroon 5 album, however, doesn’t seem to be an album that’s going to fall into that category. They’ve been able to capture the essence of their sound from their first record and build upon it with this new album. Give it a listen and I think you’ll be impressed.
