So my main computer went on the fritz last Wednesday - I got the blue screen of death. No of my trick worked after spending 5-6 hours trying to get everything back up and running. This put me in a spot with a few deadlines and such - so I had to figure out what to do.

One quick note...I do not buy brand name desktop computers - period. I hate them. The guys at Ovation Systems her in Nashville have been building my desktops for about 5 years now and they are fantastic. You don't get all of that preloaded junk and you can get exactly what you want and usually save some cash.

So, I called them on Thursday to drop the computer off. They called me back and told me the damage - bad hard drive and power supply. They changed them out for me and told me there was a small chance that I'd have to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows. But, I was back up on Friday and could get in and backup everything without any problems.

A few months ago I took one of my desktops in to one of the big box stores and had them figure out what was wrong. It took a few days before they could look at it and the usual rigmarole. I kept waiting for the upsell on upgrades enhancements, etc. It was very much like taking my car into the dealer. They can amazingly find all kinds of things wrong and then tell you your fetzer valve needs replacing and you'll reluctantly go that route.

The moral of the story is you must have two "guys" now - a computer "guy" and a car "guy". Both have to be reputable and out of the way just a little bit. And, here's a dead giveaway when working with either - they'll give you your bad parts back when you're done. It's that little extra thing that keeps you trusting them for the long haul.

Well, back to loading the mounds of software to get my desktop back in working order. Good thing is how fast your system is on a fresh load of Windows whatever you're running.

How Can You Relate the TN Titans to Windows ME?

Things aren't going well for my Titans. Oh and six. Jersey-gate. The former GM's wife blasting the franchise on the radio yesterday.

There's been one thing about this whole situation that I just haven't been able to put my hands around. It was really bugging me. But, it popped in the ol' noggin this morning on the way to the bus stop with my son.

Let me preface this thought with a few words. First, there are a few things in today's business climate that separate the good companies from the bad. Who are the companies we love today? Southwest Airlines, Google, Twitter, Zappos, and many others. What is it that make those companies great? They're transparent. They let their customers see who they really are and it facilitates trust.

This is what I'm getting at with the Titans. There is no transparency over there at Baptist Sports Park. The Titans are becoming like Microsoft. There's all of the hype, you can't see behind the curtain and boom...out pops the NFL equivalent of Windows ME.

I've been a huge supporter of Coach Fisher. But, it just feels like the message and the messenger have lost their luster. A little more transparency will go a LONG way with the fans...I mean your customers.

There's more to this than the price at the pump. That, I do know.

It's a shame that the concept of "Gentleman" is a lost art. However, today, I will try and exemplify this thought and congratulate the Wildcats of Kentucky for their defeat of my beloved L.S.U. Tigers. They outplayed us, out-thought our coaches and showed the enthusiasm that Tigers have displayed in the past. I'm not going to pout or lay blame. I take thy lumps as a Gentleman and will drown my sorrows until the eve of the morrow, Sunday, when thy Titans of Tennessee take the field of battle and redeem thy residence of O'middle Tennessee and redeem the house of Gallent.

Forgive my rant and pretend you're reading this in the tongue of our Nation's former rulers - the English. "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" And, roll with this topsy turvy season, we shall.

Here are 9 responses women use in conversations with men. You must know this stuff because you are getting set up.

Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome.

Whatever: Is a women's way of saying its useless.

Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong" For the woman's response refer to #3.

Any more? Drop a comment.
