Faster Data is Always Good

I saw this a few minutes ago:

Faster USB 3.0 Is Coming
USB 3.0 should deliver more than ten times the speed of the existing USB 2.0 standard.

I remember back when FireWire was the it thing in connecting stuff to your computer. I HAD to have FireWire because of the speed. Anyone remember SCSI? I was surprised to see that it's still in use out there in servers in stuff - surely there's something better out there than this ancient technology.

The third-generation Universal Serial Bus interconnect will transfer data at speeds up to 4.8Gbit/s, ten times faster than USB 2.0's 480MBit/s. It will be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0, which is backwards-compatible with the first USB 1.1 definition.
