Faster Data is Always Good

November 28th, 2007

I saw this a few minutes ago:

Faster USB 3.0 Is Coming
USB 3.0 should deliver more than ten times the speed of the existing USB 2.0 standard.

I remember back when FireWire was the it thing in connecting stuff to your computer. I HAD to have FireWire because of the speed. Anyone remember SCSI? I was surprised to see that it’s still in use out there in servers in stuff – surely there’s something better out there than this ancient technology.

The third-generation Universal Serial Bus interconnect will transfer data at speeds up to 4.8Gbit/s, ten times faster than USB 2.0’s 480MBit/s. It will be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0, which is backwards-compatible with the first USB 1.1 definition.

If Anyone is Wondering, Here’s My Christmas List

November 24th, 2007

Xmas listSince I know you’ll all be trying frantically to find me something for Christmas this year, I thought I’d help you out with a few ideas. So here it goes:

  • Eric Clapton: Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 DVD
  • Clapton: The Autobiography
  • Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless Steel
  • GuitarHero III
  • Dremel 395D MultiPro Variable-Speed Rotary Tool
  • And, if you’re feeling really generous – this’ll do.

I’ll think of some more and add to this as the season goes on.

New Opportunities

November 21st, 2007

I am proud to announce that I have finished my sabbatical and have joined Atiba Software & Consulting as COO. I have worked off and on with Atiba over the last 10 years and know their capabilities extremely well. I hired them for a bunch of work at GameZnFlix and we’ve consulted on projects together while I was at Fourthturn and Thinktivity.

This is a great opportunity to help them provide services in new areas. And, I’ll be able to learn more about programming and the other areas where they excel. Plus, we are looking to expand into new areas of development, web design and I/T. More to come….

 Happy Thanksgiving, everyone

Great Podcasting Article

November 6th, 2007

Here are some PodCasting tips from the great site MarketingProfs.com:

Lessons Learned From Podcasting

According to a study released by KnowledgeStorm and Universal McCann on the emerging role of new media, over 41 percent of survey respondents claimed they had listened to podcasts on more than one occasion, and 13 percent stated that they frequently download or listen to them; and 65 percent of podcast listeners said they listen to podcasts for both personal and business interests (source: Emerging Media Series: The Influence of Podcasts on B2B Technology Purchase Decisions, July 2006).

The list at the end of the article is right on. I especially like (and recommend) #7 – no selling in podcasts. They’re all about exchanging ideas and thoughts on a subject.
